Rubius Therapeutics Case Study

Improving the flow of digital communication with The Artery.

Rubius Therapeutics has continued to expand & progress their intranet solution to foster even stronger internal culture during the times of COVID-19 remote work.

Rubius Therapeutics is a biopharmaceutical company pioneering a new era of cellular medicines. As part of their rapid growth, Rubius had reached a stage where streamlined communication (along with sharing of information between employees and across departments and locations) had become more challenging and fragmented. In order to maintain and cultivate the great culture already at Rubius and provide a modern, digital means for internal communication, we worked together to create the company’s first intranet in 2019.

As long-term partners of Rubius Therapeutics, we’ve continued to iterate & develop additional Sharepoint intranet features to foster adaption to the world’s increasingly remote landscape. The Artery intranet has not gone without accolades either. The Artery is a recent winner of the prestigious 2020 Ragan Communications Award for Usability Design, as well as having received an honorable mention for best in class intranet by the MARCOM Awards for 2019.

The UX team completed initial rounds of user interviews and surveys to create our initial concept in 2019. Since then, XDS has done additional rounds of user research to develop new community-centric features and updates to assist Rubius in the transition to remote work during COVID-19, i.e.: photo commenting and liking, more robust employee or department profiles, etc.

The details matter.

Curating community-centric digital spaces during this new pandemic-reality has been our top priority in working with Rubius’ Intranet Communications team. “Featured Ruby” content (showcasing interviews of Rubius employees from all levels within the company) has been a top-performing feature in our journey to migrate more of Rubius’ culture into the digital Sharepoint sphere.
