Arcus is an early-stage BioPharma that is designing precision therapies in the pursuit of cures for patients living with cancer.

In the Spring of 2020, California-based Arcus BioSciences was in a need of a new website that better communicated the cutting-edge therapies they were researching, and sought out the team at the Experience Design Studio. Faced with a tight deadline, we created a new look and feel for the company that included video-based animation on the home page along with an updated style guide and a user friendly website.

Our work included:

  • Expansive User experience research
    With an emphasis on optimally enhancing the website navigation and content paths, our UX teams started the project with expansive user research, combined with a detailed content audit, in order to help determine what was needed for the new site.
  • Visual design
    A fresh look was created to help drive home cutting-edge medical research Arcus conducts and the life changing therapies they are working to bring to people suffering from cancer. While Arcus previous design was a good starting point for the company, a new design was needed in order to match the company’s growth and progress in its mission.
  • Development
    Migrating the website from an older monolithic hosting platform and limiting, non-editor friendly technical architecture, our team developed the new website in WordPress, built to work seamlessly across all devices and platforms. The website was also structured in a way so future updates are easy to implement by both Arcus staff and XDS team members, creating a site that can grow with the company as its pipeline continues to expand.
  • SEO Improvements
    While the previous site performed well from a speed standpoint, it suffered on the SEO front overall due to over reliance on JavaScript and limited content. As part of the content and technical development efforts, our team emphasized SEO friendliness with increased and semantic content, SEO-friendly HTML, proper meta tags, and more. As a result, the site saw increased organic reach and impressions on Search, leading to increased quality traffic.
